Do I need to buy my own equipment?

Is another question that is quiet often asked. 

Equipment for skiing or snowboarding is very expensive so don't run out and buy equipment until you know you will use it.

Skis, boots, snowboards, helmets and poles are all supplied with the lessons at both clubs so there is no need to buy them right away. When you do decide to purchase equipment bargains are to be had so look about or ask the clubs as both have advertising boards which is often used by members to sell outgrown or unwanted equipment. Both also hold a sale each year where good deals and great prices can be found on new and used clothing and equipment.

Unless you are looking to be going abroad or regularly ski up in the North of Scotland then it may be beneficial, even then the equipment can be hired in advanced from the ski slopes up north as well as Bellahouston Ski Club.

LESSONS

There are lots of lessons available all year long from both Bearsden Ski Club and Bellahouston/ Glasgow ski and board. You will find that from Nov-to-Feb the lessons are really busy so unless you are planning to go on a ski holiday take them before or after these months, quiet often the weather is a wee bit better too.

Office staff at both clubs are very friendly and will happily give advice directing you towards the right lessons for you or your family, remember;

Courses are available for children and adults from beginners to advanced either in groups or for one-to-one individual private lessons.

The age range for skiing is slightly different from both clubs;

• Bearsden Ski Club - Children can start from the age of 4 years for both private or group ski lessons and 8 years for snowboarding. Call 01419431500

• Glasgow ski and board/Bellahouston ski club - Children can start from the age of 6 years for the group ski lessons, 8 years and above for snowboarding lessons at both clubs.               Call  0141 427 4991

• Bearsden Ski Club supply family lessons from the ages of 7+  beginners.

This goes to prove that there are still some activities  family's can do together and skiing and snowboarding  is great fun, so give it a try.

As I said before all equipment is supplied so don't worry just enjoy.
